Life of a Neuron

Life of a Neuron is an immersive exhibition that follows a single prefrontal cortex neuron, the brain’s “thinking cell,” from its origin through its death. I designed and developed the birth scene, the opening chapter where the neuron first comes into being.

Video: highlights of the birth scene at ARTECHOUSE NYC, combining ARTECHOUSE documentation with a few of my own phone shots.

The exhibition was built on real neuroscience data. It came out of a three-year collaboration between ARTECHOUSE Studio and the Society for Neuroscience, marking SfN’s 50th anniversary. Visitors walked through a large-scale 3D model of the neuron in the Immersion Gallery, alongside interactive works on vision, stress, addiction, and neural connectivity.

It ran at ARTECHOUSE DC from September 2021 to January 2022, then at ARTECHOUSE NYC from May to November 2022.

Created as part of ARTECHOUSE Studio during my time as Interactive Multimedia Designer and Developer at ARTECHOUSE. The views on this site are my own and don’t represent ARTECHOUSE’s positions, strategies or opinions.
